For those in the industry, we often use the term “specialty vehicle.” A specialty vehicle is any vehicle that is designed to serve a professional purpose. They can be custom-built from the ground up or modified from an existing vehicle. Ambulances are one of the most recognized types of specialty vehicles. While an RV used for a family vacation might seem “specialty,” the term itself typically does not refer to recreational vehicles.

But specialty vehicles are so much more than just that ambulances. A quick Google search for the term brings up nearly 16 million results! Specialty vehicles as an industry includes everything from bookmobiles and bloodmobiles to mobile mammography and HAZMAT.

When thinking about building a specialty vehicle, there are literally thousands of possibilities in size, configuration, equipment, and price to consider. It can be very overwhelming. For the average professional looking to take their organization mobile, they don’t necessarily care about all the types of specialty vehicles and their options. They just want a vehicle that will work for their specific needs.

Mobile Veterinary Clinics

This type of vehicle is built with the independent veterinary practitioner in mind. Many veterinarians utilize it to expand their brick and mortar practice. However, in most cases, the veterinarians are exclusively mobile, providing in-home care services for comfort and convenience for pet and owner. Spay/Neuter & Animal Adoption

This type of vehicle is typically ordered by non-profit Humane Society’s and Animal Shelters. These vehicles are often larger in order to receive substantial numbers of animals in a single day. They can be built to serve dual purposes, with medical equipment to perform spay/neuter and side viewing windows for adoption, or for a single purpose. Mobile Medical Clinics

Specialty medical vehicles are as varied as the field of medicine itself. LaBoit has built medical vehicles with both a highly specialized purpose or a more general medical purpose, for example, mobile laboratories, mammography, pediatrics, vaccinations, concierge medicine, and medical training centers. Clients for this type of vehicle are most often non-profit healthcare providers and hospitals. Mobile Dental Clinics

Dental vehicles can be built for public/non-profit organizations or private dentists. They truly are a fully-functioning dentist’s office on wheels. They can include up to three separate dental exam rooms, a reception area, bathroom, TVs, specialty dental equipment, and much more. Bloodmobiles

Most people are familiar with a bloodmobile. At one time or another, you’ve seen one of these parked in your local supermarket, high school, or corporate office. LaBoit offers a variety of bloodmobile sizes and configurations, from a 26ft 3-chair unit to the 40 ft 6-chair unit.

Mobile Command Centers

Mobile command centers are built for local police forces and fire departments to provide extra support in the field. Examples include incident command centers, communications vehicles, HAZMAT, SWAT, bomb squad, and DUI alcohol testing. Each mobile command center must be uniquely configured to meet the needs of the local police force and fire department as well as accommodate the latest in high-tech equipment.
