Last month, we received a pleasant surprise. A client of ours who had taken delivery of her vehicle 11 years ago left us an unexpected online review…

Dr. Hannah Good has been a veterinarian in Santa Cruz, CA for 30 years. In 2008, she took the plunge into mobile (after many years of consideration) and purchased one of our signature vehicles, the 24ft La Boit mobile veterinary clinic. Since then, she has served Santa Cruz County with a variety of veterinary services, including dentistry, general wellness, end of life care, and even alternative medicine such as chiropractic and acupuncture. In her mobile clinic, Dr. Good cares for not only cats and dogs, but also reptiles, birds, and exotic pets.

As a veterinarian that has been exclusively mobile for 10+ years, Dr. Good has implemented systems that she feels work well for both her business and her clients. For example, she utilizes a mix of personal housecalls and regular hours parked at static locations. She often parks at grocery stores, since they have plenty of parking and it’s a place that families visit frequently. Dr. Good finds this mix better suits both her needs and her clients’ needs. As one example, if a client has to pick up a medication, it’s cost-prohibitive to make a special housecall trip just to drop it off. Instead, that person can arrange to pick it up while she’s parked in one of her regular spots.

In her La Boit vehicle, Dr. Good tells us that she provides more services than many of the local brick and mortar practices in Santa Cruz. She offers in-depth internal medicine and surgery using the most up to date equipment such as anesthesia monitoring, digital radiology, ultrasound, and a mini-lab. She can do all of this all while offering less overhead and cheaper prices in a mobile clinic.

As a long-term mobile veterinarian, Dr. Good has a lot to teach other vets about the mobile journey. We thought it best to let her speak for herself…

“I bought my rig in 2008 when our country was crashing down all around me. I was scared out of my mind but have never looked back. What a fantastic life move it’s been for me. Koni talked to me cheerfully for 13 years (yep) before making the plunge, telling me all the ins and outs. The process when it finally happened couldn’t have been smoother. Since then I’ve only had 100% support from La Boit with any glitch that happens and needs repair. Every single one of the folks at La Boit is helpful, courteous and has the smarts to get you through just about anything on the phone, and send parts needed to keep you functioning promptly and with fair prices.. The follow through is stellar. “

“The vehicle itself is built like a bombproof shelter and they are constantly upgrading to more clever innovations to improve anything that isn’t perfect. I couldn’t recommend this company highly enough. I strive to model my business after theirs. My business has had me running since the day I drove it home and it has been a joyful way of giving to the community, making a great living, and being appreciated for the work you do. You can charge enough to make a great living while keeping the prices reasonable enough to be greatly appreciated for it and not have the stress of overhead dictating your medical decisions or lifestyle.”
