Reopening Your Mobile Business During COVID-19

La Boit clinics are built with all non-porous solid surfaces for easy cleaning!

Even as businesses across the country have begun to open, COVID-19 will be a reality that we’ll continue to live with for quite some time. “Social distancing” is now part of our daily lexicon. Some consumers will continue to be skittish of public places. And in true Midwestern style, our friends and family here in Ohio will continue to refer to this global pandemic as “all this stuff going on right now.”

As a business owner or non-profit who counts on individuals visiting your mobile clinic as a source of revenue or to fulfill your mission, it may take some time to reassure the public that you are taking careful precautions to protect their health and that it’s safe to visit your mobile clinic. New operating procedures are now required.

Here are a few changes we could see happening over the next year as mobile businesses reopen:

2019 Year in Review

December 16, 2019 | La Boit Specialty Vehicles | Bloodmobile, Command, Dental, Medical, Spay/Neuter/Adoption, Specialty Vehicles General, Veterinary | No Comments

2019 was all about making moves for La Boit clients. A move to start a new mobile practice, a move to make an impact in the opioid crisis, or a move to launch a new mobile training initiative.

For many La Boit clients, the day they take delivery of their mobile clinic is their first experience as an owner of a specialty vehicle. While we do everything we can to train our clients on a mobile practice, they still don’t know what to fully expect until they do it. We understand that they are taking a risk. But it’s a risk that has paid off for our 2019 client spotlights…

Dr. Lynsey Rosen and Dr. Julie Anderson named their La Boit-built 26ft Mobile Veterinary Clinic after their beloved dog, Shiloh. We “believe that every animal deserves to be treated with the best possible care,” they write on their website. “Just like Shiloh.”

And they sure have done just that! Since taking delivery of their clinic in January, Shiloh Veterinary Hospital has been providing amazing mobile veterinary care to the greater Los Angeles area. The veterinarians’ hard work, along with the amazing support of their full-time vet tech, Melissa, and office manager, Breanne, hasn’t gone unnoticed.

September 23, 2019 | La Boit Specialty Vehicles | Client Spotlight, Veterinary | No Comments

Piedmont Animal Service Mobile Veterinary Clinic

Dr. Jennifer Proctor has owned and operated Piedmont Animal Service mobile veterinary practice in Central Georgia since 2000. In that time, she has owned three different mobile clinics. Her first two were from a manufacturer that is no longer in business. When it was time for her third, she toured two other makers and, in her words, “she was highly impressed with [La Boit National Sales Manager] Koni Wade and went with La Boit.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed dealing with LaBoit during the building process,” she wrote to us in an email. “And was overwhelmed when I saw the clinic for the first time on arrival in Ohio.”

Last month, we received a pleasant surprise. A client of ours who had taken delivery of her vehicle 11 years ago left us an unexpected online review…

Dr. Hannah Good has been a veterinarian in Santa Cruz, CA for 30 years. In 2008, she took the plunge into mobile (after many years of consideration) and purchased one of our signature vehicles, the 24ft La Boit mobile veterinary clinic. Since then, she has served Santa Cruz County with a variety of veterinary services, including dentistry, general wellness, end of life care, and even alternative medicine such as chiropractic and acupuncture. In her mobile clinic, Dr. Good cares for not only cats and dogs, but also reptiles, birds, and exotic pets.

Fetch the Vet owner, Dr. Jenni Tudini, picking up her new La Boit truck with her family.

Living just outside of Buffalo, NY with their three kids, Drs Jim and Jenni Tudini both have successful careers in veterinary medicine – Jim as an emergency veterinarian in a brick and mortar clinic, and Jenni as the new owner of a La Boit-built clinic, creatively titled “Fetch the Vet.” Within 5 minutes of meeting them, you can tell that they have an extraordinary commitment not only to veterinary medicine, but also to family and community. With dedication like that, it’s no surprise that they’ve seen such success.

Client Spotlight: The Raptor Trust

March 18, 2019 | La Boit Specialty Vehicles | Client Spotlight, Veterinary | No Comments

The Raptor Trust is one of La Boit Specialty Vehicle’s more unique clients. Of course, La Boit Specialty Vehicles builds mobile veterinary vehicles for humane societies and shelters all over the country. However, those vehicles are primarily focused on dogs and cats, of which La Boit clients have helped thousands. The Raptor Trust, on the other hand, is a New Jersey-based non-profit that focuses exclusively on helping sick and injured birds, with a special focus on birds of prey.

Client Spotlight: Berkshire Barks & Purrs

January 10, 2019 | La Boit Specialty Vehicles | Client Spotlight, Veterinary | No Comments

berkshire barks and purrs mobile veterinary clinicEach year, we talk to dozens of veterinarians about their decision to go mobile. Over and over we hear a similar story. Many are tired of the business as usual model of a modern veterinary practice – the long hours, the rushing through appointments, the stressful environment for both clients and staff.

Dr. Tracey Fahey, new mobile veterinarian and owner of Berkshire Barks & Purrs in Massachusetts, was one such person. She describes her decision to go mobile on her website: Read the rest of this entry »

2018 Year in Review

December 31, 2018 | La Boit Specialty Vehicles | Veterinary | No Comments

For us, 2018 was all about gratitude. Gratitude for our new clients, who took a leap of faith and trusted La Boit to transform their business with an investment in a mobile clinic. Clients such as South by South Vets in Houston, TX, in which owner Dr. Katie Eick gives advice to veterinarians thinking about going mobile by telling them, “Just do it!” Or new client, Birmingham AIDS Outreach, in which the success of a creative community outreach initiative transformed into state funding for a mobile HIV testing clinic.
